A: Informant is an automatic tool for collecting relevant information from the internet. It works by scanning web pages, filtering and distributing new information to customers.

Q: How is the filter constructed?
Filters in Informant are composite regular expressions. In plain English this means that a filter can consist of one or more regular expressions. A regular expression is a very effective way of matching strings. In it's simplest form it can be just a keyword such as politics. In more advanced forms it can look like this: (geo)?politic(s)?|econom(ics|y). If more than one regular expression is needed they need to be separated by line breaks, that is each row in an Informant filter is one regular expression.
Further, should a negative filter be needed, it is simply prefixed by a hyphen ('-'). The expression
-politics will through away all information items containing the word politics.
Q: Can I monitor social media?
A: Yes, you can monitor Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and Google Searches. Start by entering a simple keyword or phrase as filter (social media monitoring always requires a keyword), then press the respective icon for the social media you would like to add to your subscription. A new link will appear in the list of sources. It is recommended to test this link to make sure the page contains the correct information.
Q: My Facebook subscription does not work.
A: Facebook is a closed forum that typically requires a personal account. You need to use Informant's built-in Facebook tool. Type a filter word and click the Facebook icon. Don't forget your preferences and to save.
Q: I've entered my phone number and delivery interval correctly but still don't receive any SMS.
A: If you've just signed up, you don't have enough credits to receive SMS. Each SMS cost 50 credits and new subscriptions are loaded with 25 free credits.

Q: Can I get a fixed price, invoice, VAT deduction etc.?
A: If you want a fixed price per subscription and/or VAT deduction, order a fixed-price-feed directly from us.

We charge € 40 plus VAT (25%) per feed. Feeds are valid 12 months. EU Customers with av valid VAT number and customers outside EU will not be charged VAT.
